Back to the land of SNOW!!

We've been home for almost a week now, and I can definitely say that I miss the sunshine and beach, but am glad to see my babies again. We had a wonderful vacation... the going and coming not so much fun...but Jamaica was a blast. It was great to see Brent & Megan, Shelly & Ted, Jimmy & Jenn and the Laforges and the Marois.

Brief recap of our vacation:

We left for Halifax on Saturday and spent the night with my cousin Blair... who dropped us off at the airport the next morning... after which the Jeep blew a valve (not the best news when you are off for a week and are already four hours from home). The flight had no TV, no radio and no air conditioning (definitely the worst plane ever). We arrived in Montego bay late Sunday night and were the first to arrive at the hotel. Next to arrive was the plane from Calgary followed close behind by the flight from Montreal. What fun to see everyone.

Monday we spent lying around on the beach.

Tuesday we (Brent & Megan, Shelly & Ted, Eric & Melanie, and Steve & I) went on a catamaran from which we went snorkeling and climbed Dunn River Falls... what a blast. It was the first time I had ever been snorkeling and surprisingly I did quite well (if I do say so myself) I even managed not to swallow too much water. The Falls were incredible... the current is very fast in sections and we did manage to get soaking wet... the ride back was filled with drinking and dancing on a rocky boat... the waves were crashing over the bow of the boat at times but what a blast.

Wednesday was the wedding... the boys (except Brent, and for those of you who know my brother this is nearly unheard of) went golfing and had a good time. The rest of us stayed by/in the pool for the morning. The wedding was at 4pm, on the beach and Jenn looked beautiful in her dress. It was a beautiful setting for a wedding. We had diner at the Plantation restaurant as a group followed by a short dance and then it was on to the disco for some of us to finish off the night. Melanie and Eric also announced on this day that they are now expecting... Congrats to both of you.

Thursday... a beach day with some of the gang shopping in town... I got heat stroke and was not feeling very well for the rest of the evening.

Friday... more beach and shopping for Steve and I, with Shelly & Ted to the local craft market.

Saturday... cloudy so a late start to the beach but a nice relaxing day.

Sunday.... we spent most of the morning on the beach and were checked out of our rooms by noon... our flight to Halifax was delayed for 3 hours to start with so we saw everone else off and spent the last couple of hours with Jimmy & Jenn. Then we left the hotel at 5:30 and headed back to Montego bay, on route the bus blew a tire (2 tires) and we had to wait on the side of the road for a new bus to arrive... it was quite the sceen... the jack was not tall enough to lift the bus so out came a chain saw and some wood... never seen the likes of it before. Anyway we made it to the airport on time... only to be delayed for another hour. We arrived in Halifax at 5:30 am and rented a car, went to the dealership to check on the Jeep and then finally headed home. We got home at 1:15 and man was I ever happy to be home. Hannah was napping but Nathan was awake and made strange to me for the first few hours, but did nurse no problem. Hannah was so priceless when she woke up and saw us, she was laughing/crying at the same time.

The kids were great for Nan & Pop (they even said they'd do it again).

I'll post more photos when I get the chance.

Jamaica Here We Come

Well can you believe it... it is already February and we are heading off to Jamaica on Sunday for Jimmy's wedding. Nan & Pop arrived yesterday and so far have adjusted well to two young children. I am a little concerned about what state they will be in when we get home in a week... they may need to check into a hotel for a few days recuperation. Hannah is just delighted to have them here... we are leaving them well stocked with milk for Nathan and plenty of batteries for all Hannah's noisy toys they have bought her.

Good Luck Mom & Dad, you are the best!!!
