Well I can't believe that Christmas is over already. What a great day! Hannah had a blast... she loved opening her gifts and those of everyone else... she did eventually understand that not everything was for her. Favorites at the time I would say ... books from Grandma Jeanne & Grandpa Bob, Dora socks & panties from Grandpa Nou & Grandma Anita and she really loved her new kitchen (from Nan & Pop) good thing it was the last thing she received.
A condensed version of Christmas at the Laforges
Christmas Eve -- I had said that I didn't want to be wrapping gifts Christmas Eve and well guess what... I was still wrapping. Hannah was so excited when I put her to bed I was sure she wouldn't sleep... she was still awake a 9 pm, a rarity in this house. Then the inflatable bed sprung a leak so Hannah was relegated to Mom & Dad's closet (good thing it is a walk in), so Grandpa Nou and Grandma Anita could sleep in her bed.
Christmas Day -- The morning started out with a flurry of activity... breakfast for all, turkey in the oven, tortiere in the oven for lunch, then arranging for Mom & Dad, Brent & Megan to see the kids on the computer, finally the gift opening started about 10 am. The computer turned out to be a great way for my parents to enjoy the festivities even from so far away. Hannah was so fun to watch... can't wait to see the two in action next year. We even managed to see Jimmy on-line later in the day.
Turkey Dinner -- turned out to be greater than I expected... I pulled it off with out a hitch. I have never cooked a turkey with company before.
It was nice to have Noel & Anita here to celebrate with us, Hannah definitely enjoyed having her Grandpa Nou and Grandma Anita around...

Yesterday Steve's work held their kids Christmas party. What a blast. We were treated to hot dogs, hamburgers, fresh veggies and fruit for lunch; a magician, balloon animals, face painting and bouncy castles for entertainment and the piece de resistance .... cotton candy (that would be for me) but for Hannah it was the Pere Noel. She did great with him. We were a little worried that she would not want to sit on his lap but I guess the appeal of a present won her over. She was delighted to get her play food after which she promptly wanted to go home!

I can honestly say that I am not sure what everyone was talking about when they said we'd get more snow here in NB than we had in Edmonton. We had our first real snow fall December 4th (pics of Hannah playing outside the next day). The snow all but melted within 72 hours. It is hard to get in the mood for Christmas when the grass is as green now as it was in August. It was raining and 7 degrees out this morning. I think the coldest it has been here is -12. I feel "sorry" for all our family out west.

Can you believe just one month left till Christmas and the arrival of the Pere Noel (and grandpere Noel too since Steve's dad and his stepmom will be joining us for my first Christmas away from home). Steve's sister Nancy and her family came up to visit this weekend and we got to see Santa Clause twice in one day. We went to the Oromocto mall and had the kids picture taken, both Hannah and Nathan crying, too funny. Then Saturday night we went in to Fredericton and saw the Santa Clause parade. It was nice to get the cousins together again, we won't be able too do so much next year as the Jones' are off to Florida for 7 months (they leave in Jan.). Hannah was practicing for a few days -- No Joshua my toy-- but she was so excited to have him here to play with. It will be so much fun when the younger two get a little older and they too can play together. Nathan wasn't too sure of Logan when they first arrived -- I'd been joking with him than Logan would eat him or squish him, he thought it was funny until they got here and Logan reached out to grab his arm.... Nathan cried and cried. I still can't get past the fact that they are only two weeks apart.

Hannah turned TWO today. What an exciting day for a little girl. I'm not sure she really understood what we've been talking about for the past couple of weeks but this morning she was so excited to see balloons and decorations it was priceless. She kept saying it was balloon day and not birthday. The first half hour she was up she must have done 100 laps of our kitchen/dinning/living room and hallway throwing balloons around. (I think Nathan thought she'd lost her mind, her dad and I were begining to wonder as well.) We'd invited some friends over to help us celebrate and what fun the kids had. Hannah even showed off for the camera a little so two sets of grandparents got to see her today. Nan & Pop got to watch her open her presents ... what a blast. Mommy decided that the theme for the party would be elephants (since Hannah has her friend Ellie that she takes to bed) so we had an elephant cake and made elephant crafts (we were going to have a peanut hunt but the ground was too wet from all the rain we've had in the past week so the idea was vetoed). All in all it was a wonderful day. I can't belive that she had been here for two years already... time flies when your having fun. We are blessed to have such a wonderful little girl in our lives.

My parents definitely have gotten even!

For some reason I can remember my parents asking me to stop talking for just a minute or two or five quite often as a child. I can also remember them saying that when I grow up they wished I had a child just like me. Well it has come to fruition. Hannah talks non stop... and I mean non stop. Steve and I get quite a kick out of her most of the time but there are moments in the day when we wish for silence. I think Nathan felt left out for a while because now when Hannah goes off talking he starts in with his cooing... it is very cute but incredibly loud in the house these days. I tried to teach Hannah that she talks "a little loud" but it backfired on us because she now likes to tell us the music or T.V. is too loud. It is very hard not to laugh at her with the expression she uses. Good thing she goes to bed a 7-7:30 every night.

Happy Birthday to me!!!
Well I turn 29 today. Who'd have thought I'd get this far... away from home that is. Hard to believe how time flies. In less than two years things sure have changed. I've had two children and moved accross the country from my family (parents/brother that is). So far this birthday has gone great... Steve and the kids let me sleep in until 9, when I was awoke by my darling little girl telling me "breakfast ready" (french toast fresh off the griddle) and a lovely gift with a card signed by all. We are planning to go for dinner in town tonight with the kids so I don't have to cook. Can't wait.
